LEGOLAND Malaysia is opening!
Located in Nusajaya, Johor, the park is due to open its doors to the public on the 15th of September 2012. It is the first LEGOLAND to open in Asia and the sixth worldwide. It is billing itself as a full day family theme park offering more than 40 family rides, shows and attractions. Targeted at families with children between the ages of two to twelve years, the park offers many opportunities for members of the family to bond, learn and push the boundaries of their imaginations through LEGO® experiences.
The park features seven distinct themed areas that offer parents and kids alike a chance to be immersed in a unique mix of kid-powered rides, building challenges, spectacular LEGO models, family-friendly coasters and shows that thrives on audience participation.
MINILAND = Maxi Fun!
One distinctive area of LEGOLAND is MINILAND which is the heart of all the parks worldwide. MINILAND is all about recreating cities and national icons entirely from LEGO® bricks.
The models are built on a scale of 1:20 and will feature 17 countries and cities from around the region including Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, Myanmar, Philippines, Indonesia, China, India, Singapore, Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. This is the largest MINILAND ever built for a new park and the project has taken more than three years to complete and over 30 million lego bricks were utilised in this masterpiece.
Accessible and affordable
The park is easily accessible by car as it is just a 15 minute drive away from the Tuas checkpoint. The park is also offering shuttle services from central Singapore for those who do not drive. And did we mention the price? For a limited time period, you can get your LEGOLAND Malaysia annual pass at $115/adult and $88/child/senior citizen. That means 12 months of pure unadulterated fun for you and your family at a really affordable price.
Ticket information
To date, over 45,000 annual passes have been pre-sold, with over 65% sold in Malaysia and the rest regionally throughout Asia. The annual passes are available to buy on the LEGOLAND website and on Sistic. You can also get them at the pre-opening promotional prices at the upcoming NATAS Fair taking place at the Singapore Expo from 24th to 26th August 2012. They will also be selling day tickets at a promotional rate ranging RM$70 for children and senior citizens to RM$96 for adults.
Rides, rides, rides!
Members of the media were invited for a special preview of some of the rides at the park and we had a chance to tap our inner kids!
The four rides were:
- Power Tower -- A ride that requires you and a partner to pull yourselves up a tower and ‘free-fall’ down.
- Aquazone Wave Racers -- A water ride that lets you ride the waves. Your mission is to avoid jets of water being shot at you from all directions.
- Dragon’s apprentice -- A kid friendly coaster in the shape of a dragon.
- Technic Twister -- A spinning teacup ride with a technical twist!
Verdict: The most adrenaline pumping ride title goes to the Aquazone Wave Racers. Each rider is given the option to control how often they want to race across the water.
Ultimately, each ride was kid and family-friendly ensuring all members of the family a fun and exciting time!
