Kim Kardashian recently declared in her post on Tuesday that she wishes for a push present. The present? A Lorraine Schwartz diamond choker valued at an approximate 1 million dollars!
A push present is a gift presented to a mother to mark the occasion of her giving birth. Kim loved the idea, viewing it as a “sweet and well-deserved thank you” especially after her post declaring that pregnancy is the worst experience of her life.
In her post, she announced that a chain of emails between her friends have sparked in her an interest for a push present. She mentions that, “One friend got a special diamond ring she always wanted, and another friend got a new car!”.
Her request trumps the others with her expression of interest on a Lorraine Schwartz diamond choker similar to the ones she had worn before to the Art + Film Gala.
Are push presents becoming a thing now? The local mums we interviewed have different reaction to this news.
Kim’s statement of “of course it only makes sense that we get something amazing to show how amazing we are! LOL!” resonates with mums here. A soon-to-be mum, Catherine, mentioned to us that “such a present should be natural as mums should be rewarded for all the effort we go through in the pregnancy.”
Not all mums expressed similar feelings though. Another mum, Norah had a different reaction, “A push gift seems to me to imply that the child only belongs to the mother alone”.
While the mum has put in the physical effort of bearing her child, the presence of a dad should not be discounted. Norah added, “I’ve decided to give my husband a gift instead- a BMW bike to show that he still has freedom after turning into a new dad.” With a smile, she mentions that the swanky new bike is still locked up in the garage, and the keys will only be passed over after the child is born.
Hey mums out there, what do you think about the concept of a push present? Would you ask for one, and what would it be? Drop your comments in our box below.
