“This is an incredibly exciting time for us filled with hope, anticipation and hormones. Well, only I’m filled with hormones, but everyone in the family gets to enjoy them,” Heigl said in a statement. “Naleigh and Adelaide could not be more excited to welcome their new sibling into the fold and Josh and I are overflowing with joy and gratitude.”

Their son will join big sisters Naleigh, 7, and Adalaide, 4,–whom Katherine and Josh adopted in 2010 and 2012.

They adopted Naleigh from South Korea–the home country of her older sister, Meg, who was also adopted.

After much research on domestic adoption, and because of their desire to give Naleigh a sibling, they adopted again.

“Naleigh was super excited about having a new baby sister — until she arrived. Then she was a little hesitant about whether or not she wanted her to stay,” she told People in a previous interview. “And then she became her little protector and is taking on the role of big sister very seriously.”

“We are expecting a third addition to our tribe! It was totally unexpected but thrilling nonetheless,” she shared through her lifestyle website, Heavenly Days.

She also shared the happy news through her official twitter account.

“Naleigh and Adalaide are over the moon and can not wait to spoil their new sibling rotten and of course Josh and I are full of high hopes and bubbling anticipation,” wrote the former Grey’s Anatomy star.

She also shared that although this will be her third child, “the whole pregnancy is new to (her).”

After her ultrasound, she took to Instagram to share her sonogram with her 742,000 followers.

“We’ve known for a while that we wanted to add to our family and frankly didn’t really care how we chose to do that. We were considering adoption again, fostering, or pregnancy if possible,” she said.
