Mums and dads, school holidays may be over, but guess what, there are plenty of exciting events for kids happening this month. Let's check out the 2018 January events in Singapore:
1.Ancient Religions @ Asian Civilisations Museum
Did you know that the Ancient Religions exhibition at Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) opened on Dec 12?
It would be a great educational experience for the young ones to learn more about Asian ancient religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, which are practised by many in Singapore.
And, admission is FREE. :)

2. Painting with Limbs @ Parkview museum
Have fun with colours! Painting with Limbs focuses on the action painting of Viennese artist, Hermann Nitsch. It is part of The Parkview Museum's Saturday Sketching series that draws inspiration from the museum's ongoing exhibition, The Artist's Voice.
Adults and children are encouraged to collaborate with one another to create an art piece using various parts of their bodies (eg. their feet, hands, forearms, etc) as 'paintbrushes' and 'pencils'.
They could opt to splash paint onto the blank canvas to create splotches of various shapes, sizes and textures, as well as use charcoal sticks and crayons to create the art piece.
Through such an activity and process, participants are encouraged to focus on their actions and gestures while creating their artworks, as well as their feelings, thoughts and body movements while carrying out action-painting.

Light snacks and refreshments will be served. You are advised to bring an extra change of clothes. Aprons and protective sheets, as well as tissue paper/serviettes will be provided. The activity is suitable for participants of all ages. Adult supervision is advised for children under 6 years old.
3. Light to Night Festival
The iconic Light to Night Festival returns from 19 - 28 January 2018 and looks set to paint Singapore’s Civic District in a dazzling array of colours as it transforms iconic cultural institutions and parks into a creative canvas with spectacular works of art.
Expect a captivating, multi-sensorial experience at the National Gallery Singapore, The Art House, Victoria Theatre and Victoria Concert Hall, Asian Civilisations Museum and The Esplanade.
The Festival runs for 10 days, and starts from 5pm till midnight on weekends (Fri & Sat), and visitors can still enjoy the outdoor light art installations from 8pm till 10pm on weekdays (Sun – Thurs).
The installations inside National Gallery Singapore follows the institution’s opening hours, except Friday and Saturday when it will close at midnight.
Admission to the Festival is free.
St Andrew’s Road will be closed during the two weekends on Friday and Saturday from 4 pm till 1 am. For more information about the Festival, please visit www.lighttonight.sg.
4.Family Funday @ Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC)
Explore the unique Singapore Chinese culture with the little ones, and bond over a dynamic line-up of programmes ranging from theatrical and music workshops to Taiji and Qigong classes.
Pick up the ukulele as a family and play along to Mandarin pop and Xinyao songs from the 80s, and learn about traditional Chinese values through drama, music, dance and games.

Art from the Streets
Art from the Streets reflects the evolution of street art, charting the diverse artistic techniques employed by artists through the decades.
Expect live paintings and installations created on-site by iconic names from the field

Treasures of the Natural World
The exhibition takes visitors on a voyage of discovery, through the centuries, from the Enlightenment of the 18th century, through to the present day, showing how pioneering explorers, collectors, and scientists revolutionised our understanding of nature.
The exhibition showcases over 200 of the star objects from the world renowned Natural History Museum in London.
