I think we can all agree that nobody owns a name, but it can be pretty annoying having to come up with an alternative when someone names their baby the same as what you had chosen for your unborn child.

But one woman hasn’t let that stop her, naming her child the same name as the cousin, and then again with her second child.

A Baby Name Dilemma

“I have two sons: Hayden and Oliver,” the woman wrote in her post to Mumsnet.

“DSis [darling sister] had a daughter after I had Hayden and named her Hayden,” she continued.

“I didn’t care too much as she was a girl and mine was a boy. It also didn’t matter that much.”

But now that the woman has had a second child two months ago, her sister appears to be following in her footsteps yet again.

“My Oliver is two months,” the woman wrote, “and she is the third trimester of her pregnancy and has announced he’s an Oliver.”

“Different middle names but still!” she added, asking if she’s wrong to feel as though this is really unfair.

Most people agreed the whole situation was extremely odd.

“That’s so weird,” commented one person.

Another added, “It’s f**king odd. Is she some kind of sociopath?”

“Tell her to choose her own names and stop copying you,” suggested another.

One person laid it all out without holding back: “Your sister is a f**king fruit cake and I think you need go insist she chooses a different name.”

And a few people pointed out this wouldn’t be so weird if she’d picked out the name beforehand then not wanted to change her mind, but to actually come up with it knowing full well your kids will have two cousins by the exact same names is rather bizarre.

What do you think? Would you see it as a compliment or would you put a stop to it immediately?
