We may not always enjoy seeing presidential candidates invade our television and computer screens screaming how they plan to change the country. However, we must admit that there is at least one good thing that came out of the upcoming presidential elections in the United States: Bernie Baby.

Oliver Jack Carter Lomas-Davis stole the spotlight when his mother Souxsie Lomas dressed him up as the Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders.

When photos of little Oliver wearing a white wig and thick rimmed glasses surfaced in one of senator Sanders’ rallies online, social media immediately took notice.

Recent reports however said that senator Sanders’ youngest supporter has passed due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS.

On Facebook, the baby’s mother posted a touching photo of her son, which was captioned, “Oliver Jack Carter Lomas…I love you dearly, I love you most. I love you with all my heart and soul. I know that God will keep you near since God and truth are here.”

The lack of findings on immediate causes or warning signs of SIDS is what makes it so frightening and devastating.

No one knows for sure what causes SIDS. What we do know, however, is that SIDS victims stop breathing and lack the ability to alert themselves to start breathing again.

Although the exact cause of SIDS is unknown, certain risk factors have been identified:

  • SIDS is most prevalent in babies between the ages of two and four months, but that there are more than a few cases each year in babies up to one year of age
  • Sex may be a factor as 3 out of 5 victims are boys
  • Babies born with underlying vulnerabilities and abnormalities (like brain and heart abnormalities and respiratory infections)
  • Those babies exposed to certain stressors (such as sleeping tummy-down or on too soft bedding)
  • Some babies born prematurely or at a very low birth weight
