According to researchers from the University of Leeds, people who spend long hours using the Internet are most likely to exhibit symptoms of depression. UPI reports that these researchers found substantial evidence that links extended use of the Internet to depression. Since online interactions like chatting and social networking replace real-life relationships, compulsive internet habits are developed. We have to admit that the world wide web has caused significant changes in our daily lives. It now plays an integral role in almost all business transactions that we make. However, despite the benefits that it brings to us, it still has some disadvantages. One such disadvantage is addiction which eventually leads to depression. Researchers said that the incidence of depression among those who only use the Internet occasionally was lower compared to those who were Internet “addicts”.
