Sleepy Child Gives Netizens A Good Laugh After Mistaking A Chair For His Schoolbag

A little boy in Singapore brings to light the importance of sleep for students after hilariously mistaking a plastic chair for his schoolbag.

We’ve all had rough days where not even a good night’s sleep has helped ease the exhaustion. Often times, we even find ourselves seeking a few seconds to nap in the middle of the day.

While a good nap does sound great when you’re tired in the afternoon, it could also make you a bit groggy and force you to forget a the simple things.

This adorable little boy in Singapore for instance, may have had too good a nap. So much so that he ended up making a funny mistake.

Shared through the Instagram page Sgfollowsall where many other Singapore finds are posted, a video of a young student went viral after he accidentally made adults around him laugh.

The video starts innocently with students walking out of the room in a line. This goes on for a few moments, making the clip seem like a regular day of the class at first.

At one of the tables, you’ll notice one of the students still sleeping while everybody around him is already getting ready to leave. While still napping on the tabletop, one of the carers in the room helps pack the student’s school pencil case and notebook into their schoolbag.

The child eventually wakes up from his deep slumber. Although, the young boy doesn’t appear to be completely awake as he stumbles a bit as he tries to stand up.

It is at this moment when everyone still in the room is shocked to notice the little boy pick up one of the plastic chairs, as he would a schoolbag.

Adults in the video begin to laugh at the boy’s antics, while also still trying to help the child come to his senses by getting him his actual bag.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, students should always get a proper amount of sleep at night. This is to help them stay focused, improve concentration, and even support their academic performance.

Children who do not get a proficient amount of sleep may be at a higher risk of the following health problems:

  • Obesity
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Poor mental health
  • Injuries
  • Attention and behaviour problems

As far as the number of hours of sleep of your child is concerned, the American Academy of Sleep recommends the following hours for each age group:

Age group Recommended hours of sleep per day
6 to 12 years old 9 to 12 hours
13 to 18 years old 8 to 10 hours
