The COVID-19 pandemic upended our world and has caused a striking shift in our priorities and mindsets when it comes to hygiene, health and safety. These insights are according to a latest consumer survey by Bosch Home Appliances of nearly 2,000 Singaporeans. Prior to the pandemic, 39% of Singaporeans felt hygiene was not of primary importance, but the survey revealed that today, 89% of Singaporeans think hygiene is of extreme importance.
Local homeowners are also changing their priorities when it comes to choosing a home appliance and many used to place price at the top of their consideration. Now, 86% say they will be willing to spend more on home appliances with strong hygiene functions.
Public and personal hygiene are our first line of defense, not just against Covid-19, but also against future breakouts which we cannot foresee. Most Singaporeans know this, with 98% of respondents noting they have been more focused on hygiene since the Covid-19 outbreak, and 87% noting they will maintain this increased level of personal hygiene following the pandemic.
In addition to these insights, the survey also revealed that:
- 2 out of 3 Singaporeans are aware of how effective home appliances are in sterilising clothes and cookware in order to maintain a hygienic and clean environment
- 1 in 2 respondents say they would purchase or use a washing machine with hygiene functions to improve hygiene following the outbreak
- One third said they would now purchase or use a dishwasher to disinfect dishes and maintain better hygiene following the outbreak
“Home appliances play a critical role in keeping a home healthy and hygienic, especially those with innovative features such as ActiveOxygen and AllergyPlus, which eliminate 99% of bacteria at both low and high temperatures,” said Adrian Kok, Head of Marketing ASEAN, BSH Home Appliances. “As restrictions begin to ease and more people head outside, it is important that we pay more effort to sterilising our clothes as bacteria can be picked up from every object we encounter.”
Unveiling the Bosch Serie 6 and 8 Washing Machines: Built for a Hygienic Home
With a commitment to manufacturing appliances that keep the home clean and healthy, Bosch Home Appliances is also launching five new washing machines in the Serie 6 and Serie 8 lineup, with specialised, hygiene functions such as ActiveOxygen and AllergyPlus.
ActiveOxygen technology helps eliminate up to 99.99% of germs and bacteria even at low temperatures and is used to pretreat laundry when the cycle starts and once again before the final rinse. With the AllergyPlus feature, 99.99% of bacteria at 60°C can be removed using regular detergent in the recommended laundry load of 4kg – meaning it’s tough on germs but gentle on clothes and skin.
The Serie 6 front load washing machines all feature EcoSilence Drive, allowing them to be extremely energy-efficient and operate quietly. They also feature ActiveWater Plus – a pressure and water sensor that measures the washing load and adjusts water intake for more cost and savings. In addition to these features, the Serie 8 front load washing machines offer a 4D Wash System, which provides highly efficient water and detergent fabric penetration for spotless results. You can also connect the Serie 8 front load washing machines to your home through Bosch Home Connect, allowing you to remotely monitor and control your home appliance from your smartphone.
