Unlocking Creativity and Coding Brilliance: The Lab's Fun-Filled Holiday Camps for All Ages

Embark on a coding journey with The Lab's Holiday Camps! From Disney Cars games to Minecraft RPGs and Unity adventures, ages 5-14 can explore, create, and have a blast. Proven online, guaranteed fun – let the coding adventures begin!

This December, dive into a world where learning meets excitement at The Lab’s Coding Holiday Camps. Aimed at students aged 5 to 14, these camps offer a unique blend of fun and education, providing participants with valuable coding skills while sparking their creativity. Let’s look at the engaging workshops designed for different age groups.

Ages 5 – 7: Racing Car Game with Disney Cars Characters

For the youngest group, aged 5 to 7, The Lab presents a magical journey into the world of coding through a Racing Car Game featuring beloved Disney Cars Characters. Across two dynamic days, kids will explore the Tynker programming platform, tailor-made for game and program development education.

On Day 1, budding coders will delve into the essentials of game design. From creating backgrounds to defining character interactions, they’ll lay the foundation for their racing car game. Learning the art of breathing life into in-game characters through coding techniques will set the stage for a thrilling adventure.

Day 2 takes the excitement a notch higher. Participants will craft an additional level for their games, showcasing newfound coding skills. The workshop wraps up with a showcase where each child can proudly exhibit and play with their creations. With small class sizes of 4 or 5, personalised attention ensures an optimal learning experience.

Ages 8 – 10: Epic Minecraft RPG Adventure

For the 8 to 10 age group, The Lab introduces an enthralling journey into the world of Minecraft-themed RPGs. Over three action-packed days, students will explore Tynker, unraveling the magic of RPG game design, and honing their creativity in sound, scores, and level design.

Day 1 kicks off with designing the world for Alex’s adventure, setting the stage for an immersive RPG experience. Day 2 dives into game interactivity, where students master programming concepts and face challenges in Alex’s quest for treasures. The grand finale on Day 3 allows students to refine their own games and explore fellow students’ creations, fostering collaboration and camaraderie.

With a class duration of 9 hours spread over three days and a small class size of 6 per instructor, participants are ensured a comprehensive and interactive learning experience.

Ages 11 – 14: Unity Game Development Adventure

For the older age group, aged 11 to 14, The Lab presents an intensive Unity Game Development Adventure. Over three days, participants will explore the basics of Unity, one of the most widely used platforms for game development.

Day 1 initiates students into Unity’s interface, guiding them through creating a 3D Unity game project. Day 2 delves deeper into game mechanics, introducing enemy entities and enhancing game aesthetics. The final day focuses on polish and refinement, incorporating sound effects, music, and user-centric design principles.

To participate, students are required to bring their own laptops with specific system requirements, ensuring a hands-on and personalised learning experience. With small class sizes of 4 or 5, students receive individualised attention and mentorship.
