Mummies, having your kids in quarantine when they’ve contracted the Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) has always been an advice that’s been taken too lightly.

Most parents would have their kids stay at home for at most 2 days, and then bring them out, putting the other kids at risk of contracting this airbourne disease.

One mummy, Azyuni Ratna Dewi, urges for parents to not take such pieces of advice with a pinch of salt. Her son had contracted the disease and his condition got so bad that he had to be admitted to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Her son had eczema, which may have resulted in the bad skin reaction.

Azyuni mentioned that “His milk intake got lesser, he was not active and had high fever.”

He was admitted in the hospital for three days.

“Every time I looked at him, I cried, he was cranky, his whole body was itchy, keeps on wanting to scratch them. And when it started to peel, every time I try to wash him, he’ll cry in pain,” Azyuni said.

Now, her son’s condition is thankfully stable, although the scars still need some time to heal.

She hopes that her son’s condition would be able to spread awareness amongst parents on the seriousness of keeping kids who have HFMD under quarantine.

“Let’s all be responsible parents so that this disease will not spread around.”
