Dad with toddler skating? Sound like fun to me! Fathers also have their unique way of bonding with their kids, just like this dad who brought his kid to a skateboard surf in Jurong Lake Gardens

In a TikTok video uploaded by wikicalisthenics on April 7, a happy dad is seen skating one round on the Mini Bowl Pod while carrying his toddler in the newly opened SkatePark in Lakeside Garden.

The cool dad and his child were both seen smiling as they enjoy gliding in the new skating park.

Safety concerns

However, some parents who have seen the video can’t help but feel concerned about the safety of their children.

They recommend wearing a helmet and a set of gear for the kid.

The pod is about 0.9m to 1.5m deep with shallow bowls designed for intermediate or pro skaters to practice drop-ins. It just opened last April 1 and is considered Singapore’s largest outdoor skate park, Lakeside Garden.

In terms of safety, the Mini Bowl Pod, where the father and son were seen, is known to have gentler slopes compared to other pods. Meaning, it is suitable for beginners.

Skating to bond with kids

Skating can be a great and fun way to bond with your kids, especially since Jurong Lake Gardens, Singapore has an accessible park suitable for the activity.

You don’t know maybe this even becomes a hobby for your child, especially if you want to tone down their screen time.

Consider roller blades or roller skates as well, but, of course, always keep your child’s safety in mind by buying them safety gear.

Stay cool parents! Bring out your inner child for your kids!
