Gigi Lai is expecting twins
Former Hong Kong TVB actress Gigi Lai is expecting twins after In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment. Her husband, 52 year-old Hong Kong business tycoon Patrick Ma Ting-kung, is ecstatic about the promise of children, who are due in June.
Lai, who was anxious to get pregnant, followed a feng shui master’s advice and changed her Chinese name from ‘Li Zi’ to ‘Li Jia Er’ to increase her chances.
Traditional advice, modern medicine and S$60 00 later, things seem to be going according to plan for Lai and her family. Two embryos had been planted in her uterus to increase her chances of pregnancy, and both were successful.
Gigi initially wanted to have a normal delivery, but has decided to opt for a caesarean operation in view of the risks involved. Gigi’s doting husband has not only booked a luxurious delivery suite for his expecting wife, but reportedly also spends huge amounts of money each month on tonics for her.
Editor’s note: Gigi Lai was admitted into the hospital in mid-June as she was bleeding. After an examination by the gynaecologist, the starlet was found to be okay but was reminded to stay in bed to rest.
