SINGAPORE – Running out of ideas on what to do? We have it covered. Here are some of the events happening this weekend! Have a fun edutainment time and bond with your children!
Parks Festival Celebrations
Take your kids on a nature walk, but one that’s light enough for them to handle. The guided walk along the Butterfly Trail at Orchard doesn’t involve trampling through a tough route, and they will have something to feast their tiny eyes on. The walk begins at the Butterfly Garden at Stamford Green and follows through SMU, all the way up to the rooftop garden at Orchard Central. This is a great way to pack some exercise into your day and keep your kids occupied.
The Walk Begins at a meeting point in front of the National Museum on 93, Stamford Road. If you can’t make it tomorrow, this takes place at the same time on Wednesday 21st September. Admission is Free. Website: www.nss.org.sg
Walter: Adventures Of A Curious Colossal Bunny
Local artist Dawn Ng has installed an art collection depicting a massive bunny as part of her project titled Walter. Your kids can have a peek at the photo art exhibition, and even have a picture taken with Walter for free. Make sure you make it in time to catch the storytelling session at 3pm, called ‘Once Upon a Bunny’. Your kids can also learn how to fold an origami bunny or colour a picture of Walter to be put up in the city gallery. This is bound to leave your little ones wide-eyed.
Address: Marina Bay City Gallery, 11 Marina Boulevard. The exhibition is on till September 30th from 10 am to 8pm on weekdays, and 10am to 9pm on weekends. Admission is free. Tel: 6592 5336. Website: www.marina-bay.sg/walter
The Cat Adoption Drive
Take your kids to the Pet Lovers Centre’s Pet Safari and let them have a blast checking out the puppies, kittens and hamsters around. If you are really feeling adventurous, you can adopt a kitten. Pet Lovers Foundation is working with the Cat Welfare Society to promote the Cat Adoption Drive where rescued cats can be given a home. Cat’s are said to be very low maintenance, so getting one for your kids be not be all that bad. Adopters receive a $30 worth goodie-bag of cat products to help you start up and $100 Tiger Airway vouchers.
There are various Pet Safari’s across the island. The most central one is at #03-05 Vivocity. Website: www.catwelfare.org & www.petloverscentre.com
Have a blast at these events!
