We spend so much on schools for them, clothes for them, food for them - not that we're complaining of course, they're the light of our lives. Don't you sometimes wish, though, that there would be equally as exciting opportunities for outings that wouldn't cost so much?

Our humble island has more hidden free activities than you know - here are 9 free outdoor things to do with the kids this holiday season.

The Central Business District will be transformed into a cycle-friendly, walkable and activity-filled public space with something for everyone on 28 May 2017. The streets will come alive for families, joggers, cyclists and fitness enthusiasts who can look forward to various activities. There will be a Kids Zone where the little ones can oin in various hands-on activities like pebble-painting, sketching, colouring and bouncy castles.

Istana Open House - 25 June

Istana Open House - 25 June

There will be a variety of performances on the grounds during the Open House. Free entry for Singaporeans and PRs, but for a small fee of $2, visitors can also tour selected function rooms in the Istana building and view a special display of gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister. There are also guided tours of the Istana building, conducted by the Preservation of Sites and Monuments (PSM) volunteers.
