Having a baby and delivering our baby safe and sound is every parent's wishes.

But what happens after that?

I am blessed that I had a confinement nanny during my confinement and so I would have a good rest as my recovery from natural birth was quite bad that I wouldn't even lift myself up without wincing in pain.

I have always seen the beautiful side of parenthood and motherhood, but nothing prepared me for breastfeeding. The frequent clog ducts, engorgement and lack of sleep worsen after my confinement nanny left. I was always feeling sad and I had postnatal blues where I would burst into tears and I cried almost every day.

My husband took paternity leave and extended his annual leave to care for my son and console me every now and then. He would bring me out for dinner and have his mother take care of my baby as he felt that I needed some time to myself.

In order to keep me busy, he bought a bicycle for me to pick up cycling and assured me that my child is in safe hands as he would bring my child to his mother to be looked after whilst we go for our cycling.

My husband also took over the night duties so that I can rest and continue breastfeeding and he washes my pumps so that I would sleep more.

When I shared with him that I wanted to stop breastfeeding and am feeling mom's guilt. My husband assured me that fed is best.

I recovered from my postnatal blues after resting more and I appreciate my husband even more as he was always there for me to assure me and for being my pillar of strength.

Having a baby, definately makes us closer as a couple because my husband dotes on me even more. I find that it is important to voice out and share your concerns with your partner so that they are able to care for you because as a new mother, we are always caring for our baby and sometimes we neglect in taking care of ourselves. It is important for someone to care for us too and that is where our husband comes in ❤️
