EZ-Link Pte Ltd, pioneer of contactless payments in Singapore, today announced the launch of two sets of special edition National Day ez-link cards, developed in partnership with the Singapore Red Cross and the Singapore Kindness Movement. In solidarity with Singapore’s frontline heroes and volunteers during these challenging times, EZ-Link will be donating S$50,000 in card sales proceeds to the Singapore Red Cross. This will be channelled towards the homegrown humanitarian organisation’s local services, and go on to support vulnerable communities, including the isolated elderly, families-in-need, and persons with severe disabilities.

The exclusive collaborations feature a total of five new card designs – three in collaboration with the Singapore Red Cross and two with the Singapore Kindness Movement. Locally inspired, they serve as a tribute to the frontline heroes and volunteers who keep Singapore safe, and encourage everyone to stand united and keep the community spirit alive amidst such uncertain times. The Singapore Red Cross designs depict volunteers offering assistance in everyday situations and through programmes like Community FirstAid, ElderAid and Family LifeAid, to highlight their essential yet often understated roles in strengthening our communities. The designs by Singapore Kindness Movement feature the country’s iconic courtesy mascot, Singa the Lion, decked in local uniforms, representing our local heroes who protect our lives and safeguard our nation, while standing in solidarity in front of prominent Singapore landmarks. All five designs can be found in the Appendix.

“The Singapore Red Cross and Singapore Kindness Movement play such fundamental roles in our society, and have significantly contributed to Singaporeans’ welfare over the past few decades,” said Nicholas Lee, CEO, EZ-Link Pte Ltd. “As we commemorate the nation’s 55th birthday, not forgetting the challenges we are living through at this moment, we wanted to spotlight these everyday heroes and bring their stories closer to the hearts of Singaporeans. We are proud to stand in partnership with these organisations and are committed to furthering their cause.”

The Singapore Red Cross partnership pays homage to its volunteers who make personal sacrifices to serve humanity and to save lives. At the same time, it seeks to raise awareness of their humanitarian services and encourage more individuals to step forward to do good. Similarly, the Singapore Kindness Movement partnership hopes to encourage Singaporeans to celebrate little acts of kindness and promote a more gracious society.

“We are grateful to EZ-Link for their generous donation, which will go towards supporting our efforts to uplift the vulnerable in Singapore and enhance community resilience,” said Mr. Benjamin William, Secretary General and CEO, Singapore Red Cross. “As we celebrate Singapore’s 55th birthday, we hope the ez-link cards will serve as a reminder of the power of humanity and inspire people to care for the vulnerable and less privileged amongst us. They can start with small actions like volunteering, making donations, or giving blood to ensure a safe and adequate supply of blood for those who need it.”

Adding to this, Dr. William Wan, General Secretary, Singapore Kindness Movement, shared, “We are honoured to partner EZ-Link and the Singapore Red Cross to design these cards that pay tribute to our frontline heroes who keep us safe. On top of showing appreciation for them, we must also do our part to build a greater and kinder society by showing kindness, care and concern for the people around us.”

The special edition cards from the Singapore Red Cross collaboration are available from 2 July onwards, and will retail at S$15 for a set of three on the EZ-Link Official Store on Shopee. Consumers can also purchase the two designs from the Singapore Kindness Movement collaboration from 7 July onwards, where individual cards will be sold at S$12 each at TransitLink Ticket Offices (inclusive of S$7 load value) and also at S$10 for a set of 2 cards on the EZ-Link Official Store on Shopee.
