A Facebook user has launched a plea to start an emergency fund for a man injured in a personal mobility device (PMD) accident in Singapore, June 2019. The man, a father of 6, suffered severe injuries across his entire body and is currently bed-ridden. Being the sole breadwinner, his family is currently receiving no income and is waiting for social service officers to assist in facilitating relief funds.

Details of the unfortunate accident were posted on Facebook by Ms Callistar Dynara. She states that the man suffered third-degree burns over 80% of his body due to a PMD exploding at his mother’s place. He was reportedly trapped inside a room and couldn’t escape the fire.

Ms Dynara says assistance from a social service officer is still pending as their case is being reviewed, and that the wife is unable to work in order to provide full-time care to both the children and husband.
Currently, no visitors are being accepted at the family’s household, while the man is said to be in a “mental state due to the trauma which is affecting his self-esteem”.
In response to this tragic event, Ms Dynara asks for the public’s generosity for donations to help the family survive this distressing ordeal.
The items requested to fulfil the family’s immediate needs are listed as follows:
- Mepilex dressing (17.5cmx17.5cm)
- 6-inch Sterile Crepe bandages
- 4-inch Sterile Crepe bandages
- Milk Formula (Dugro step 3)
- Diapers for children (Drypers XXXL)
- Cash to buy certain food supplies that the husband can eat (husband’s condition means certain foods are restricted)
- Funds for daily needs, e.g. transport fares to and from the hospital for subsequent appointments
Donated items have been requested to be delivered to the collection point at Chaichee Road, which will be delivered by Ms Dynara’s team to the family.
Overwhelming response from Singaporean citizens
As of writing, Ms Dynara’s post has been liked 138 times, shared over 1000 times and received nearly 300 comments from strangers offering to help in whatever way they can.

There have been no signs of hostility so far, although one user has requested for the invoice of medical treatment for the afflicted father.

One user has suggested if the family have applied for a Medical Social Worker, indicating the nature of the father’s wounds would mean treatment would be covered by a hospital.
