Internationally renowned singer-songwriter, Ed Sheeran, recently took Singapore by storm, not only with his electrifying performances but also with his exploration of local culture and cuisine.

From mastering teh tarik to indulging in local dishes, Sheeran’s Singapore adventure was as diverse as it was thrilling.

Ed Sheeran and His Singapore Food Trail

Before his sold-out performance on February 16, 2024, Sheeran spent the morning exploring Singapore’s vibrant food scene.

Sheeran’s day started with a walk around Bugis, a busy and colourful area in Singapore. After that, he went to Lau Pa Sat, an old food market. This place is famous for its many food stalls that sell all kinds of local dishes.

Denise Teo, who is known as supercatkei on the internet, was Sheeran’s guide in Singapore. She is very popular on Twitch, and she shared her experiences with Sheeran on her social media accounts. This gave fans a look at what it was like to spend a day with him.

Accompanied by the local live streamer and content creator, Sheeran visited Tarik, a café on Arab Street. Here, he learned about teh tarik, a traditional milk tea beverage, even managing to master the art of its signature pour.

At Lau Pa Sat

Later, the duo headed to Lau Pa Sat, a famed hawker centre, where Sheeran sampled satay, kueh pie tee, laksa, rojak, and chicken rice. It seems laksa was a particular hit, with Sheeran calling it “banging”.

At Lau Pa Sat, Sheeran ate some local dishes like laksa, a spicy noodle soup, and satay, which is meat on a stick with peanut sauce. He really seemed to enjoy these foods, which shows how good Singapore’s food is.

The most fun part was when Sheeran tried to make teh tarik, a hot milk tea drink. With Teo’s help, Sheeran learned how to ‘pull’ the tea, which is a way of pouring it back and forth to make it frothy. It was a funny and cute moment that made fans like him even more.

Teo said that Sheeran was very nice and real, and she was happy about the time they spent together. She felt proud to show him around Singapore.
