One fine night in Jan, while I was sleeping soundly, my water bag burst. At first, I thought it was my elder daughter, who sleeps with us, had wet the bed. But a few minutes later, I felt the sensation of water flowing out and I knew something was not right. I woke up my hubby and we rushed off to the hospital.

On the way there, we called up our gynae. Upon reaching the hospital, he did a scan and culture for me and I was put on CTG machine at delivery ward.

For the next 2 days, I had to take medicine and endure steroid jabs on both my thighs (to mature the baby lungs) to try and keep the baby inside me for as long as I can. Occasionally, I was wheeled down to do a scan to see how much fluid left in the water bag and dilation progress. On top of all these, I had to bear with the contractions from every 20 mins to 5 mins interval.

On the third day, the baby started to show signs of distress. No choice but to do an emergency caesarean and on the morning of 11 Jan 2011, Baby Evelyn arrived on Earth. She is 31 weeks old.
