An 11-year-old girl was hurt after she got hit on the back by an e-scooter rider.

The incident happened along Pasir Ris Drive 1 on April 12, 2018. She had just ended her tuition classes at Pasir Ris East CC. 

Police have arrested the e-scooter rider, and investigations are going on.

The girl’s mother apparently received a call at around 7:15 pm alerting her about the accident outside Pasir Ris East Community Club (CC). The child was bleeding at the mouth, and taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital that night.

Her father, Mr Rahmat Nizam, told Channel NewsAsia, “I made my way there and found out she had been hit from the back by an e-scooter rider.”

The doctors at KK hospital had to realign my kid’s jaw and gums. She lost two teeth due to the incident and sustained cuts and abrasions to her head and under her right eye, as well as to her left palm, elbows and knees.”

“She was given seven days of MC and will need to return (on Friday) for further check-ups.”

Police investigations are ongoing. 

110 accidents involving e-scooters were reported in the first 9 months of 2017. 30 of them took place on public paths, while the rest took place at road junctions and on roads.

Recently, an e-scooter rider was fined $1,500 after hitting a 7-year-old boy.

In another serious case, in March 2018, a Singapore mum was hit by an e-scooter on her way back home after work. Her condition later turned critical and she had to be warded in Changi General Hospital.
