Family Fun Experience at D’Resort Downtown East
What kind of staycation can you find in Singapore, where you can have a beautifully-theme room for the whole family, plus a range of activities to keep your little ones meaningfully engaged?
We found our answer when we brought our little ones on a staycation at D’Resort – known to be Singapore’s first nature-inspired resort with an integrated water park. D’Resort is conveniently located near Pasir Ris MRT, and we certainly have no trouble getting there. As we arrived at the resort lobby, the atmosphere was welcoming. The kids started helping themselves with the complimentary iced water dispenser (it’s always good for them to drink lots of water!)
After a quick check-in, we were shown to our family room – a beautiful ocean-theme room that fascinated the little ones. The kids got so excited and started to explore the room, checking out the double-decker bed. There were little surprises planted in the room obviously to delight the little ones. They discovered that the mini animal floats with Milo packets were left on the bed were little “welcome gifts” for them. The mysterious “treasure chest” on the table aroused the kids’ curiosity, and they started to find the clues around the room, in order to crack the code to open the treasure chest. Make a guess on what’s inside the treasure chest!
We were quite delighted to find that D’Resort paid attention to details, to make this room very child-friendly. The kids are provided with children’s plates and cutlery on the mini-bar, in case they need to satisfy their hunger pangs. The kids can also reach the hand wash basin on their own, with the stool provided in the toilet. Of course, they get to enjoy their favourite cartoons on the child-friendly cable TV channels.
Our room offered a fantastic view of the Wild Wild Wet water park, and that started to make the kids excited about what they can do during their staycation.
The conscious effort of D’Resort in making the rooms comfortable and family-friendly extends to the surrounding environment of the resort. Families with kids can enjoy the lush greenery around the resort, and take a view of the Pasir Ris beach from the outdoor garden. It’s truly a relaxing experience away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and an opportunity for the young ones to get in touch with nature.
The resort’s close proximity to Pasir Ris beach offered the opportunity for the little ones to take a short walk through the resort’s back gate to have some fun time on the beach. They really had so much fun time playing sand, while we adults simply just enjoyed the sea breeze and sound of the waves.
Getting around the resort is easy. The kids always love a ride on the shuttle buggy provided by the resort, whenever we head over to Downtown East for our meals or make our way to Wild Wild Wet. Do take note that there are operating timings for the buggy shuttle service, if you don’t wish to wait in vain.
While we stayed in the resort, we have complimentary access to Wild Wild Wet – one of Singapore’s largest waterpark. The water park offers a variety of slides - from the adrenalin-pumping rides (like the Royal Flush) to relaxing and gentle ones, well-suited for the entire family.
The kids enjoyed some splashing fun at the Kids’ section, and even tried some of the gentle slides. The heavy downpour from the giant bucket added to the excitement whenever the “ting ting” bell sounded. The kids were amused by the wave pool “Tsunami” as they tend to get washed up shore by the simulated waves. When they got tired from the water play, it’s also a good way to tour around the water park by flowing down the “Shiok River” on the floats provided. Wild Wild Wet offered so much fun to the little ones that they wanted to come back again – to take on the more challenging slides!
The resort truly offers a variety of options for families – whether dining, shopping, or kids’ activities, you can easily find it here. On the day that we checked out from the resort, it started to pour. We were thankful that we had been to Wild Wild Wet on the day before while it was sunny. Fret not, parents! Despite wet weather, the kids can still have a good time at eXplorerkid – an indoor playground for the young ones aged 12 years and below.
At this flagship outlet located at EHub!@ Downtown East, our kids were treated to another dimension of excitement and adventure. The kids were fascinated with the “Lit Ball pool” (suitable for 3 years and above), which they found it quite unusual from the ones they had played before. They started to submerge themselves among the balls as they watched the balls glow in a myriad of colours. The little ones can also have a good time exploring at the Toddlers’ Play Area (suitable for aged 3 and below).
While we were there, there were families holding birthday parties at the thematic-decorated party rooms at the indoor playground. Our kids asked if they could hold their birthday party there, so that they can invite their friends over for a good time at eXplorerkid.
We had a wonderful staycation at D’Resort Downtown East. While many staycation venues stopped at providing nice family-friendly rooms, D’Resort went further to create an integrated family-friendly resort experience by leveraging the fun elements of the nearby amenities such as Wild Wild Wet and eXplorerkid (and many more, which we didn’t have enough time to explore on this trip!). Our kids had already earmarked D’Resort for the next holiday staycation!
