If you're already in the holiday spirit, get ready to scoop the endless offering at Downtown East starting tomorrow. For many jolly good reasons, Downtown East is giving you all the fun you've missed, ramping up this year's Christmas celebrations with three additional attractions, following the launch of the boutique container hotels in September.

This marks the biggest Christmas programme yet at Downtown East - with the lights brightly lit indoors and outdoors, from the delightful new life-size gumball installation; Singapore's first Jurassic Dinosaur - Adventure Park Interactive indoor playground; and Xcape Park outdoor playground. That's 60,000 sq ft of pure entertainment.

First, look our for the giant balls of fun at the entrance of E!Avenue. The 4m-tall Candy Pops gumball machine is a quirky art installation that features a see-through container that's filled with colourful gumballs.

The Artistic Festive Vibe

Candy Pops is the culmination of Downtown East's 2021 artistic endeavours, where IG-worthy day-and-night structures such as Wave Hellow (by Space Objekt & Aeropalmics) and Lumi Towers (by Ultimate) took centrestage recently. All three installations, located minutes from one another, are on display till next year. Admission is free.

Candy Pops is the third artistic project supported by the National Arts Council (NAC). Downtown East is part of the NAC's islandwide Arts and Culture Nodes Network.

Candy Pops harks back to the 70s and 80s when gumball machines were the IT game for children. The sight of the vintage gumball machine, created by homegrown artist Justin Loke, evokes a sense of joy and nostalgia.

"It jolts visitors' memories of Downtown East, transforming from a humble resort to a carnival theme park and becoming a one-step lifestyle destination today," he explains the premise behind Candy Pops.

Hey, There's More In The Stocking...

Taking a cue from Candy Pops, Downtown East has transformed into a colourful theme park, taking visitors on a whirlwind of fun rides, games and interactive adventures. Families can also dive into a trove of holiday activities such as wall climbing, baking classes and art workshops.
