Double Tragedy As Girl Dies From Jumping Off Building, Lands On Father Who Died Trying To Catch Her

The father tried to catch her but was instead, killed from the impact of her fall.

A double tragedy involving a 15-year-old girl and her father took place in Lu County in Sichuan Province, China on 22 August 2020, claiming both of their lives.

According to online Chinese news site Wang Yi News, the teenager jumped off the roof of a 25-storey building. In a bid to save his daughter, the 42-year-old man tried to catch her but also died from the impact of her fall.

The incident, which was said to have taken place around 10.30am along Yuchan Street, was caught on video and has been circulating in China.

The Police were alerted to the incident after a witness found the 15-year-old girl standing at the edge atop the building, as seen in the viral clip.

Father Tries To Save Daughter from 25-storey Fall

According to reports, paramedics were laying down a rescue air cushion to prepare for the girl’s fall.

As the girl jumped down, her father was reportedly asked to move out of the way but insisted on trying to catch her with his arms in hopes to break the fall.

The girl then crashed onto her father who was at the foot of the building causing him to sustain fatal injuries due to the impact.

Due to injuries both sustained from the girl’s fall, both succumbed to death despite best efforts to revive them. 

While investigations to the cause of suicide is currently ongoing, other reports revealed that it had to do with the girl’s resistance to her father in wanting her to attend piano classes. 

The girl was allegedly unhappy about it and this led to their quarrels.

The piano school was said to be located on the first floor of the building where she jumped off from.
