Remember when your little one was just a tiny and vulnerable baby, Mums? In a blink of an eye, your days that were once filled with never ending piles of soiled laundry, are now replaced by hours spent chasing after your overzealous explorer of a toddler.

Our hearts sing with pride and joy when we witness our growing tots take their first steps, say their first words; or after we discover that their birth weight has tripled by their first birthday. No matter which stage of life they are at, and regardless of their achievements, it all comes down to one simple principle:

Every parent wants the best for their child, and this includes envisioning a bright future for them.

Did you know that DHA is a key ingredient in supporting your child to be One Step Ahead for the future?

Rapid growth occurs during the first few years of life; and these days, children have much to learn and remember – things even we can’t comprehend anymore. An agile mind coupled with a healthy immune system will empower your child by allowing him to breeze through developmental and academic milestones one after another.

This is why DHA or Brain Food, an essential fatty acid that is an important building block for brain and eye development is necessary for growing children especially during their formative years.

According to a recent survey conducted by theAsianparent, there is little understanding of what DHA is and its benefits. Out of 106 mums surveyed, 95% claimed to know what DHA is.

However, 38% of them are unaware that DHA is vital for brain and eye development. Out of this group, an overwhelming 84% of the mums did not know the daily recommended DHA intake for their child’s age.

Is your child getting enough DHA?

Mums, as your little one reaches the stage of eating solids, are your days filled with searching and exploring new and delicious, yet wholesome recipes for him?

While Threadfin is the most common choice of fish that mums feed their child, it contains less DHA compared to other food sources such as salmon, eggs, soy and formula milk fortified with DHA.

If you are also deciding whether to switch your child from formula milk to fresh milk – did you know that unfortified fresh milk does not contain any DHA?

As we take a quick look at the meals that schools or day-care centres are providing your child with every day, the amount of DHA in the food provided is less than the daily recommended levels of DHA.
