Delivery rider dad

Farilluddin Bin Ahmad Zainuddin started as a Deliveroo rider in 2019. He started riding as a cyclist and worked his way towards being upgraded into using a motorcycle - a personal goal he always had.

Riding with his company Deliveroo gives Mr Farilluddin the freedom to plan his schedule. He fondly talks about being able to eat lunch, dinner and having the time to cook for and with his family. He also liked being able to fetch his kids when his wife is unable to.

When it comes to parenting, the delivery rider dad emphasizes the importance of having a work-life balance. Fun fact: he was a former Outlet Manager for an F&B company for about four years before becoming a Deliveroo rider.

His advice to other parents

He shared that in his previous job, there was a lack of flexibility. He was not able to put his family first. This is why he values being a Deliveroo rider, because of the opportunity to have more family time.

As the provider for his family, Mr Farilluddin shared that people who join this kind of job or the delivery rider industry should be disciplined with their money in order to create their goal savings.

Some hardships in his line of work include riding under the heat of the sun to deliver food. But completing his day to day tasks as a Deliveroo rider gives him a sense of fulfilment.

"It makes me happy when I’m able to cheer customers up with their meals!" he shared.

"When my son, Aydin, approached me for help to dress like a Deliveroo rider for his school presentation around the theme, 'I Aspire to Be…', it caught me by surprise! As a father, my goal in life is to provide a better life for my family, and it’s heartwarming to know that I’ve made such a positive influence in his life and that he is proud of me," he shared.

He and his son even had lots of fun moments creating his son's look.

"We had a lot of fun putting together his outfit for the day. Unfortunately, my shirt was too big for him but I was able to lend him my Deliveroo thermal bag. He even put on a helmet to complete his look!" he fondly shared.

While Farilluddin was touched that his son considered him as a role model, he also commended Aydin for having the confidence to tell his schoolmates about it.

"While I might be a source of inspiration for Aydin, I’m also very proud of him, especially for having the courage to present in front of his peers and teachers. He did so well that he clinched the ‘Top 3 Best Presentation’ award during the school event! I hope we can continue to inspire each other," he said.
