It seems Ase had been friends with Kaya's godparents for a long time. In 2005, Wang starred in Drink-Drank-Drunk with Wu, a romantic comedy.

In 2012, Ase also worked with Wu's wife, Lisa S, on the set of the reality competition Supermodel Me. So their association dates back many years, adding more meaning to this new relationship.

Wang married her American-born Chinese entrepreneur husband, Jon Lor, 39, in July 2020. After her original wedding ceremonies in Singapore and New York were postponed due to the pandemic, Ase registered her marriage in Thailand last year.

In 2018, Ase decided to freeze her eggs after she was informed by her doctor that it may be difficult for her to conceive naturally. She was told that she has a low reserve of eggs and egg freezing was the best option.

So Ase went through three cycles of egg freezing in Bangkok and froze 17 of her eggs.

However, the actress conceived via in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) last year and ended up not using any of her frozen eggs.

For the unaware, social egg freezing isn’t allowed in Singapore. The island nation only permits women to freeze their eggs for medical purposes. For instance, when a woman is undergoing chemotherapy, she can then freeze her eggs to protect them from its harmful effects.

As a result, she froze her eggs in Thailand and recently also interacted with Cheng Li Hui, Member of Parliament, about the country's ban on social egg freezing.

Despite egg freezing being considered a social taboo in Singapore, Wang received support from her family who stood by her decision.

Having become an inspiration for many women trying to conceive, Ase is now hopeful that the ban on social egg freezing will be lifted soon.
