Art can teach children a lot of other things, too, including confidence and self-assurance.

The great Pablo Picasso believed that every child is an artist. As a parent, you are in perfect position to wake and hone your child’s innate artistry. It all begins, however, with understanding how art benefits children.

Art classes for kids can benefit both big children and little ones as well

Art activities are particularly beneficial for younger children who are only just beginning to learn how to work with their hands. Their fine motor skills, focus and concentration are strengthened as they learn how to draw, write and use scissors.

For bigger children, art can be a true and honest form of expression, giving them a creative means to share their thoughts and feelings. This form of creative communication gives them an outlet to share emotions that they may not be able to express with words.

Children of all ages can learn to express themselves creatively through art

Art and self-discovery

Art nurtures and enhances children’s learning. It contributes to their physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual and social development.

Through art, children can learn more about themselves, promoting self-discovery. It builds creative thinking and confidence, too, along with individuality and a strong sense of self.

It can also be an enjoyable social experience for children. Learning art with others allows them to grow within a community of similarly creative individuals.

Knowing how to draw is not enough. Talented children will progress artistically only if they, in the process of learning, acquire creative and critical thinking skills, together with new ideas.

Through the eyes of a child, there is beauty in art

Art enhances academic performance

Studies have also shown that art education can help enhance academic achievement. The Center for Arts Education in New York, for example, finds that students who have access to quality arts education do better academically, have fewer instances of behavioural problems, and also have higher attendance and graduation rates.

Because of this, many educational institutions have found ways to incorporate art into their curriculum and teaching techniques. Around the world, several foundations and institutions also offer grants and scholarships for arts education. One example is the National Endowment for the Arts in the United States.

For all the above reasons, finding the perfect learning partner, such as Crestar Learning Centre, is an important next step in the artistic development of your child.

Crestar Learning Centre is your child’s perfect partner for Art

Crestar Learning Centre believes that everyone has an inborn talent that should be discovered and nurtured.

Catering to children ages four and up, Crestar offers the Kinder Art programme which focuses on introducing and exposing children to drawing media such as graphite, charcoal, and pen and ink.

Children are encouraged to express themselves creatively while using various media and learning different art techniques.

Crestar Art allows children to really explore their artistic side

Crestar’s core programme, ArtMazing, aims to provide children with a more meaningful art learning journey. It is designed to develop right-brain ability while enhancing left-brain performance, enabling children to achieve their full potential.

When you sign your child up for the ArtMazing course, you can expect them to:

  • Learn serious art techniques and skills that not only help them do better in their education, but can also help them in their future career paths
  • Draw and illustrate better in science, geography and other academic subjects, thus enabling them to excel in these learning areas
  • Gain a deeper understanding of maths concept like geometric shapes, angles and lines
  • Observe, describe, analyse and interpret information on a more comprehensive level
  • Develop creative thinking for problem-solving

More than art – the Crestar Learning Centre experience

The learning experience at Crestar Learning Centre goes beyond that of regular art programmes. It is interdisciplinary, child-centered and uses a unique and proprietary developmental assessment tool.

Unique Developmental Assessment System

Each child is expected to have positive and sustained learning results through Crestar’s proprietary Developmental Assessment (DA) System.

The DA System helps keep track of the learning progress of a student, including his pace and pattern. This provides a better understanding of the child’s abilities, strengths, and areas for improvement.

Based on the results of each child’s DA System report, teachers will take on a customised teaching approach, structuring lessons, coaching, and even examination strategies accordingly.

Small class sizes at Crestar Learning Centre allow teachers to focus on each child.

Interdisciplinary curriculum

Crestar’s interdisciplinary curriculum means that they use customized worksheet activities that not only provide basic knowledge about the theme, but also make connections to other subjects.

Through this style of teaching, children’s higher thinking skills are developed, along with their creative thinking and language skills.

Students are exposed to a wide variety of media, like the wax-resist method for beginners, where younger children paint over oil pastels, painting and paper sculptures. Scratch art, copper tooling and oil painting are among the unique classes offered as well.

Crestar Art students have the opportunity to do themed project during festive seasons such as Chinese New Year and Christmas.

Child-centred classes

Classes are child-centred, with only up to eight children per class. The small class size allows teachers to dedicate sufficient time and attention to each child.

Lessons are also designed to cater to specific age groups for more enhanced learning experience. The ages of students in a class are also considered: there is no more than a two-year age gap between them.

Your choice of learning partner for your child is an important one
