While infants are likely pure angels just short of wings and a halo, it’s the toddlers who will give you much fun and most grief when growing up.

They are absolute brats with no fear and they manage to get away with things given that adorable face. While some toddlers like to sit down and play, others can be a handful. And with the latter, you know that mischief is just around the corner.

Nevertheless, everything they do is worth documenting on video and that makes for some of the cutest posts parents put up on social media.

In one such TikTok video that has now gone viral, parents of a toddler shared what happened when their baby was surprisingly quiet.

Not the one to “keep calm,” when the little one wasn’t her usual self, the parents were concerned. However, the reason for her silence is adorable and bound to melt your heart.

Parents Federico and Lois Aragon shared the video of their toddler Quacey on the social media app recently. Run by Lois under the handle @aragonthemove, the parents revealed that their toddler was surprisingly quiet, only to discover her cleaning their windows.

The video shows the mum and dad realising that their baby is a bit too quiet in the other room.

A caption reads, “My husband and I were busy in the kitchen when I realized, baby girl is surprisingly quiet…”

They then go to the living room of the house to check up on little Quacey. At first, it’s not clear what the toddler is up to. And you would think that the little one is up to no good.

As the parents get closer, they find the toddler standing by the living room window, apparently looking out.

As the camera moves closer to Quacey, you see what “mischief” that the little one is actually up to. She crouches by the window and is cleaning it instead, using a wet wipe.

A caption reads, “Then we found her cleaning!”

As Quacey wipes the windowsill with a wet wipe, a caption explains, “There was this one time when hubby taught her to clean using wipes… Now every time she gets a hold of wipes or tissue, she knows that it is for cleaning!”

The video ends with the lovable Quacey turning her face to the camera and showing that wide smile on her face.

Encouraging children to do chores from a young age is one of the fundamental ways you can make them independent. It helps them learn about taking care of themselves, their home and their family.

They learn to pick up after themselves, which is a skill that will only come in handy as the kids grow.

From basic chores to more complex ones, you can assign kids the same depending on their age.

Being involved in chores also allows children to experience and develop relationship skills like communicating clearly, negotiating, cooperating and working as a team.

It will also help them feel competent and responsible after accomplishing the tasks.

Moreover, sharing housework and chores helps families work better and collectively reduce stress. That means, each of you has more time for yourselves and the parents aren’t burdened with everything.

How to motivate children to get involved in chores:

  1. Do the chore together with your child
  2. Be clear about your child’s chores for the day or the week. Have a chores chart can help keep a track of the same.
  3. Show interest in how your child completed the chore
  4. Praise your little one for attempting to do the same
  5. Reward their effort over the result by giving small rewards like letting them watch their favourite cartoon or meal. It will help reinforce positive behaviour.

Chores For Toddlers:

  • Pick up toys and books.
  • Put clothes in the cupboard or clothes hooks.
  • Set placemats on the dinner table.

You can also try these using chore charts for kids.

Remember, these charts help inculcate the importance of rules and decision-making. It will also help your child to understand discipline and responsibility. So when you are making a chore chart for kids, the aim of the exercise should be to make chores fun.

If at any point, the kid feels the stress of completing the chore, they will leave it midway. So instead, ask them to come back to it later or show them an alternate easier way.
