Singaporean actress Chen Xiuhuan recently took to Instagram to share images of her daughter Shanisse Tsai‘s birthday celebrations.
Among the many images posted were some that specifically caught her followers’ attention. One in particular had the proud parents posing with their darling daughter and a unique Salmon Sushi Cake.
Given her love for new recipes, it wasn’t a surprise to see her followers clamouring to get the deets on this one too. And in her classic style, the actress obliged and recreated it from scratch for her social media followers.

This cake is quite easy to make and Instagram-worthy too. Unlike the traditional sushi dish, which requires one to know the art of rolling, a layered sushi cake doesn’t require the same skill.

And if you wish to try something else, we recommend the rainbow-themed Ang Ku Kueh that was also shared on Chen Xuihuan’s Instagram account.

Chen recently mastered the art of cooking a rainbow-themed Ang Ku Kueh. She reached out to Ji Xiang Confectionery with a request to teach her the recipe and the latter happily obliged.
As most of you may know Ang Ku kueh is a popular Chinese pastry. The recipe requires soft and sticky glutinous rice flour skin, wrapped with a sweet filling right in the centre.
You need to mould the dish to resemble a tortoiseshell and it’s mostly red in colour.
But the dish Chen tried had a rainbow-hue. In fact, the mum shared that she was never a big fan of this snack. However, seeing a rainbow-coloured Ang Ku Kueh on her social media feed changed her perception. She not only had a strong urge to try out the dish but wanted to know how to create the beautiful hues.
Chen Xuihuan’s sushi cake is making all the sushi lovers drool. So, now that you have the recipe, how about surprising your loved ones with a fancy looking salmon sushi cake?
