A Singapore family were hit with an unexpected accident at Changi Jurassic Mile as their helper was suddenly struck straight to the head by a stray golf ball.
Unforeseen flying golf ball hits visitor
According to Derek Yap’s Facebook post, they were looking through the exhibit when he heard a thud from behind him. Next thing he saw was their helper crying on the floor as she held her head in pain. It was to both the family and the park staff’s surprise that she was actually hit by a golf ball which came all the way from Tanah Merah Country Club.
Yap’s helper was lucky to have not suffered any severe injuries and only a bruising on her head. She was advised to monitor her condition at home.
David Yap: ‘ I can’t imagine how it will turn out if the golf ball were to hit my kids…’
The family was also visited by a Changi Airport Group’s Arrival Experience manager who told them that they “had brought up the possibility of golf balls hitting the public when they are building the pathway. However upper management from Tanah Merah Country Club Garden Course assured that the golf balls will not hit the public due to wind direction, hence there is no need for nettings to be built to protect the public.”
Although as this has only been the first golf-ball-hitting accident that has occurred so far, builders of the Changi Jurrasic Mile is looking into setting up the necessary protection for their visitors.
Meanwhile, Yap suggested visitors to the Changi Jurassic Mile wear helmets or walk with umbrellas to avoid ever getting hit by a flying ball.
