Looks like it’s baby boom time! Just yesterday, Singapore singers Alfred Sim and Tay Kewei announced their pregnancy to the world. Let’s check out 9 celebrities who announced their pregnancies in 2017:
1. Alfred Sim & Tay Kewei
The latest couple to jump on the baby bandwagon is none other than Singapore singers Alfred Sim and Tay Kewei. The couple broke the big news to the world through their Web reality video series, Married and Then?, which revolves around their married life.
The episode, which was uploaded on YouTube yesterday, shows Kewei shocking Alfred with a positive pregnancy test kit, inside a car. Alfred seems too shocked for words, until he finally decides to hugs her.
Meanwhile, Alfred has been quoted by Toggle as saying, “We don’t really have any preferences for a boy or a girl, but I personally feel that I would get along better with a son because I’m an athlete.” While Kewei apparently said, “Alfred’s a very ‘alpha male’ type of guy so he would prefer a boy, but I’m fine with either one.”
The baby is expected to be born in late September.
2. Serena Williams & Alexis Ohanian
Serena Williams surprised fans via Snapchat when she showed off her baby bump in a yellow bathing suit and captioned it, “20 weeks”. She then confused everybody by deleting the post!
The tennis star, currently engaged to Reddit cofounder, Alexis Ohanian, has since then confirmed the pregnancy. Her spokesperson has said, “I’m happy to confirm Serena is expecting a baby this fall.”
You know what makes this pregnancy really special? It means that Serena was already pregnant when she won the Australian Open in January, without dropping a set!
3. George Young & Janet Hsieh
Celebrity couple George Young and Janet Hsieh chose April Fools’ Day to reveal their big news!
Janet put up a photo of herself on social media, holding a sign that read, “One of us is pregnant”. It had George and American child actor Hudson Yang. She later ended up clarifying that it was not meant to be an April Fools’ joke!
Janet is apparently in the second trimester of her pregnancy now.
4. Mark Zuckerberg & Priscilla Chan
Mark Zuckerberg took to Facebook (of course!) to announce the special news, and we loved the sweet, unconventional way he did the big reveal, “Priscilla and I are happy to share we’re expecting another baby girl!
After our difficult experience having Max, we weren’t sure what to expect or whether we’d be able to have another child. When Priscilla and I first found out she was pregnant again, our first hope was that the child would be healthy. My next hope was that it would be a girl. I cannot think of a greater gift than having a sister and I’m so happy Max and our new child will have each other.
I grew up with three sisters and they taught me to learn from smart, strong women. They weren’t just my sisters but some of my best friends. They’ve gone on to write books, excel at performance, music, sports, cooking and their careers. They showed me how to compete and still laugh together afterwards.
Priscilla grew up with two sisters and they taught her the importance of family, caring for others and hard work. They supported each other as first generation college students and in their careers in medicine and business. They have so many inside jokes — the kind only siblings can understand.
We are all better people because of the strong women in our lives — sisters, mothers and friends. We can’t wait to welcome our new little one and do our best to raise another strong woman.”
And that’s Priscilla with her sister, and Mark with his sisters in the picture above!
5. Eric Trump & Lara Trump
American President Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, and wife Lara Trump, are expecting their first child in September 2017. They revealed the news in March this year, and Eric wrote on Instagram, “Lara Trump & I are excited to announce that we are adding a boy to Team Trump in September. It’s been an amazing year. We are blessed!”
Meanwhile Lara has been quoted as saying to People magazine, “Eric’s dad was so excited, we were worried he’d blurt it out at a press conference.”
6. Princess Sofia & Prince Carl Philip
Swedish royalty Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip announced in March this year that they were expecting their second baby.
“We are happy to announce that we are expecting a child, a sibling to Prince Alexander. We are looking forward to welcoming a new little member to our family,” say the couple on the Swedish Royal Courts website. The baby is due in September 2017.
7. Amal & George Clooney
It’s official, Amal and George Clooney are expecting twins! The first confirmation came in February by The Talk host Julie Chen, who told the audience, “The Talk can confirm that the 55-year-old superstar and his highly accomplished 39-year-old attorney wife are expecting twins.”
George Clooney has been quoted by E!News as saying, “We are really happy and really excited. It’s going to be an adventure. We’ve sort of embraced it all…with arms wide open.”
Amal is reportedly due in June this year.
8. Shaun Chen and Celine Chen
We know by now that Shaun Chen announced baby No. 2 on Valentines Day this year. This will be Shaun and Celine’s second child and an excited Shaun has been quoted as saying, “I am okay with a baby of either gender, as long as the child is happy. My wife prefers girls, though, because she thinks they are better behaved, and they can dress up and play together.”
