With the National Day Parade returning to the National Stadium after 10 years, Esplanade will create its very own mini parade at this three-day festival to add excitement your family’s celebrations.

Entitled Spirit of the Parade, this mini parade features heart-thumping beats and sonorous bagpipes of the Singapore Women Police Pipes and Drums as they perform popular Singapore songs and Scottish tunes at the Esplanade Courtyard. Both the young and old can also enjoy the spectacular formation display by the award-winning, 70-member Deyi Military Band at the Esplanade Forecourt Garden; watch out for a fun drum line and dancing Colour Guards.

Be part of National Day Parade

Families, with young children, can also participate to build larger-than-life Esplanade-inspired sculptures under the guidance of cardboard sculptor Bartholomew Ting at the Esplanade Concourse. Or you can assemble a mini cardboard sculpture to take home.

Come soak in the Hari Raya and National Day festivities at the Esplanade Festival Village – the biggest ever outdoor bazaar held at Esplanade, featuring over 50 stalls selling locally-produced artisanal goods and delicious treats.

Diverse celebrations, local colour

Enjoy free performances, activities and exhibitions as artists and community groups each representing a diverse range of interests and cultural traditions come together to celebrate Singapore’s 51st birthday with some pomp and ceremony.

Expose your kids to sketching with the introductory sketching workshop conducted by the Urban Sketchers Singapore and learn the basics of how to draw on location. Or you can bring them to wander through Esplanade’s three visual arts exhibitions that explore different ways landscapes relate to and influence cultural histories and aesthetic imagination while framing their perception and teaching them new ways to see.

Fun for everyone

Bring your kids to Pramila Pam’s storytelling session at Esplanade‘s PIP’s PLAYBox. She will enchant little ones, as she weaves interactive tales about animals and nature while demonstrating how we can do our part to save our environment!

For those who know their local drinks by heart, take part in the KopiQuiz, an interactive roving performance and quiz. Put your kopi and teh ordering skills to the test and stand to win prizes sponsored by Toast Box.

So come down to Esplanade, Singapore’s national performing arts centre and architectural icon, for an activity-filled festive time from August 7 to 9.
