Every year millions of people celebrate Earth Hour around the globe; homes, businesses and landmarks switch off their lights for an hour to conserve energy, in a call for action on climate change.
Earth Hour 2017 will be at 8:30 PM – 9:30 PM on Saturday, 25 March. Which is tomorrow.
Here are 4 ways you can celebrate Earth Hour 2017 in Singapore:
1. WWF – Sundown Marathon
WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) is organising a mega event this year for Earth Hour. They have tied up with Sundown Marathon to organise the first ever sustainable marathon! Re-usable environment-friendly water bottles, jelly like water molecules and medals that can be planted to grow plants; these are just some of the ways they have to decided to make the event waste-free. Over 35,000 people are expected to take part.
Date: 25 March 2017
Location: F1 Pit Building
Time: 6.00pm-10.30pm
The main event will host a concert featuring some of Singapore’s best known artistes like DruChen, Shigga Shay and Inch Chua, among others. The countdown to lights-out at 8.30pm will be accompanied by a dramatic laser show at the Singapore Flyer.
As the Singapore skyline goes dark, the 5KM Earth Hour Run will flag off. Concurrently, iconic landmarks such as Gardens By the Bay and various buildings around Singapore will power down in support for Earth Hour.
