Brighton Montessori International

Some moms manage to make things look easy breezy, but in reality, being a working parent is tough. Switching between work reports and making ABC’s fun can take a toll on both parent and child and here’s where Brighton Montessori steps in — you can now spend your day at the office focusing on work without worrying if your child is being taken care of, or if he or she is learning and developing well.

At Brighton, children are taught in a climate of love and respect – one in which they can nurture their talents, develop good living habits and in the process build up sound characters for life.

The newest addition to Brighton’s family is her centre at 41 Sunset Way (Clementi Arcade), bringing the total number of Brighton centres to four. Offering both half and full day programmes, you are able to select one that best suits you and your child.

Brighton also recognizes the growing importance of bilingualism and is proud of its Intensive Chinese Immersion Programme (ICIP). The intensive programme is taught by native Chinese teachers and children are will learn to speak, read and write effectively in Mandarin through a series of stimulating activities fully conducted in Mandarin.  If you wish to encourage your child to learn a new language or become more proficient in Mandarin, Brighton has the expertise and resources to kickstart this learning journey.

Children between 18 months and 6 years of age are eligible to engage in Brighton’s Montessori programme. The curriculum covers the whole spectrum of Montessori training and prepares your child for their first steps into formal schooling.

The Brighton foundation

Brighton is particularly well known for setting a strong Phonics foundation in the children who become early readers. If you would like to see your child discover the joy of reading, you will be delighted with the Phonics reading scheme at Brighton which allows children to bring home age-appropriate story books where children will proudly read to their parents!

The Mathematics programme is also outstanding as you will see the children mastering the math concepts using concrete Montessori apparatus and later progressing to more abstract math concepts. Cultural studies include exciting monthly themes where the children may be exploring the life-cycle of a frog one day, rattling off names of dinosaurs the next or even make a pretend climb up Mount Everest!

The Brighton course curriculum

The course curriculum however, only makes up for part of the all-round service Brighton provides, as the little ones also engage in music and movement, art-and-craft and speech and drama. Besides a safe, cozy indoor playground, the centre also has a unique play area where children enjoy pretend-play activities that simulate a home environment.

Here, there are resources such as building blocks and train tracks that are used to build up their gross and fine motor skills. Playing in groups, children enhance their social skills and pick up values such as sharing and taking turns – which the teachers at Brighton inspire and encourage.

The nutritious Brighton menu

Brighton provides children with nutritious, freshly cooked meals daily, and the comprehensive menu is uniquely designed to cultivate children’s interest in Chinese cuisine, though western food is served on certain days as well.

Low teacher-student ratio

We also noticed at the visit, that the tots are extremely comfortable with the staff as with their fellow classmates. This could be attributed to the low teacher-student ratio that starts off with one to six at the pre-nursery level. The centre’s Principal, Ms Alice Chiam, has also seen how parents appreciate the staff and that many have moved centres with her because the comfort level they have with the staff is irreplaceable.

More than just childcare

Much more than a childcare centre – Brighton at Sunset Way with its team of dedicated teachers and an environment that promotes a love for learning, is truly is a home away from home where you can set your heart at ease!

Brighton’s Open House

Brighton’s Sunset Way centre is having an Open House on 3 March 2012 (Saturday) and would love to have you join them.  At the event, Brighton Montessori’s Founder-Director Mrs Connie Cho will also be providing insight on the Montessori method.
