Imagine this – you’ve just given birth and your hubby has planned an amazing brunch date on a Sunday, but the fear of unnecessary stares and dirty looks make you hesitate. If you’re worried about breastfeeding your baby in public, worry not!
Local non-profit social campaign, BreastFeeding Friends Singapore, aims to “cultivate a breastfeeding-friendly culture in public places, and in turn create an inclusive and supportive environment for nursing and pumping mothers in Singapore”.
Four Nanyang Technological University (NTU) students have engaged cafes and restaurants, and have launched the BFF Finder, a “platform for mothers to locate places where they can nurse conveniently, comfortably and confidently while on the go”.
We’ve picked out some of these cafes and restaurants, where you can head to, to nurse comfortably while enjoying a sumptuous meal of your own! Also, three of these restaurants are listed under Breastfeeding Friends Singapore and can be found with the BFF Finder.
#1 Real Food Grocer

This vegetarian cafe has plenty of books and magazines for you to read while dining in with your family, and accommodates strollers as well. They do provide high chairs upon request, and best of all… they are breastfeeding-friendly. They even have a little shop outside that sells sustainable, earth-friendly, health products, and foods.

#2 The Coastal Settlement

A casual dining restaurant, cafe and bar, that’s nestled within lush greenery in a village home-like environment. With amazing food to go along with the amazing view, we’re pretty sure that it’ll be a great place for you and your baby to relax. Do make reservations in advance if you are bringing a stroller along so that the friendly staff can make arrangements to accommodate to that!

#3 Fika Swedish Cafe & Bistro (Halal Certified)

Say what? A halal cafe that serves authentic Swedish food? Take me there! “Fika is a social institution in Sweden; it means having a coffee with one’s colleagues, friends, date, or family”, and what better place to do this than in Fika, where it is breastfeeding-friendly as well?
Fika is also one of the places listed under the Breastfeeding Friends Singapore!

#4 Caffé Beviamo

Cafe Beviamo dishes out simple and delicious Australian-inspired foods, has a relaxing atmosphere, and long bench seats that’s also great for laying the baby down on. This cafe would entice you to come in to have a coffee, read a book while nursing your little one – all without the angry glares of other diners.

#5 Royz et Vous (Halal Certified)

Royz et Vous is a halal cafe that provides awesome halal food, beverage, as well as good music with great company. They accommodate strollers and even provide high chairs for your other tots! Sit down, grab a cup of coffee and unwind in this cosy cafe, where breastfeeding is not frowned upon either.

Yum! What’s a typical Singaporean meal without some delicious desserts? This quaint little cafe serves absolute must-try dessert dishes such as the waffles, and Root Beer Cake with vanilla ice cream. The waffles are crisp on the outside, and light and fluffy on the inside. Have them with a scoop of ice cream and you’ll be in dessert heaven in no time! Should you need to breastfeed your baby, Wimbly Lu Chocolates are open to that, and you don’t have to worry about having to find somewhere else to feed your little one!
