Their fans were shocked by the announcement that the two would be separating. But, nearly a year later, they’ve stunned them yet again with the revelation that, apparently, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are trying to save their marriage.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner: Their Marriage
The couple, who are no longer living together but remain legally married, recently marked their 11th wedding anniversary.
“They still have not officially filed paperwork for a divorce,” a source tells ET, adding that Affleck and Garner “don’t know if that will ever happen.”
In a recent interview with HBO, Affleck also referred to Garner as “his wife.” The source also revealed to ET that they’re “making it work.”
“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” they said in a statement to ET in June of 2015. “We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”
Before Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner filed for divorce, the two remained friendly and made it a point to spend time with their three kids Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Samuel, 4.
They maintained their daily routine as much as possible, remaining in the same compound where they see each other practically every day since the separation. “He still lives on the property in Brentwood, California, but in separate living quarters,” another source told ET.

It was July 2015 when Us Weekly claimed that Affleck was having an affair with their former nanny, Christine Ouzounian.
At the time, Affleck’s rep denied the relationship. Ouzounian, however, was more forthcoming with the details of the alleged affair. According to ET’s sources, she kept track of all the media coverage about her.
“We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny,” Garner told Vanity Fair about the scandal in a tell-all interview. “She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes. It’s not great for your kids for [a nanny] to disappear from their lives.”
“He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that?”
In the same interview, she assured fans not to “worry” about her, that her “eyes were wide open” during their marriage. “I didn’t marry the big fat movie star; I married him,” explained the 44-year-old actress. “And I would go back and remake that decision. He’s the love of my life. What am I going to do about that? I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it.’ But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold.”
“We’re good friends and we’re doing our best, and the kids are fabulous and we’re working on our best for them.”
Ben Affleck reacted to this interview with nothing but kind words. ”She felt like she wanted to discuss it and get it out there and get it over with, so she could say, ‘Look, I already talked about it — I don’t want to do it again,'” he told The New York Times. “It’s fine. She’s allowed to talk about it.”
In an interview with Ellen Degeneres he yet again emphasised the cordiality of their relationship, “We’re good friends and we’re doing our best, and the kids are fabulous and we’re working on our best for them.”
Since announcing that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner plan to call it quits, the couple have remained there for their three kids; they’ve been spotted together on numerous occasions, even traveling to Paris and London together while Affleck was filming Justice League. This, naturally, sparked rumours that they may be getting back together.
But will they or won’t they? A source close to Affleck tells ET, “They’re in a good place and co-parenting the best they can.”
