Seven-month-old baby girl Nuraisy Aurora Alisya was admitted to hospital for intestinal problems. Tragically though, she developed complications. All the toes on her left foot had to be amputated.

Baby’s toes cut off by doctors
The incident happened in Malaysia on May 16, 2018. Little Nuraisy had been undergoing surgeries for intestinal issues at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan.
Her left foot suddenly turned black.
Daddy Muhammad Aizat Mohd Zin told The Star Online, “There was an SpO2 device tied tightly to her left foot. We believe it caused her foot to become swollen. It got worse, as though her foot had been burnt.
“Then it turned gangrenous and the doctors said part of her foot had to be amputated.”
The toes on the left foot had to be cut off on May 16, 2018.
“We had to accept that our daughter will have to grow up without her left foot,” says mummy Siti Umi Kalsom Suparman.
She revealed that at first, she had said no to the amputation. But then, she was warned that things would get much worse if they didn’t go ahead.
Parents demand explanation from doctors
Understandably, the parents want an explanation for this tragedy.
“I have asked the hospital for an explanation, but they kept telling me it was under investigation. There was no apology at all for what happened,” says mummy Siti Umi Kalsom.
The Health Ministry is investigating the incident now.
The mummy’s hospital check-up book says that the baby developed burn injury after surgery on Feb 27. Dressing was done, but the foot started swelling, and turned into a third-degree burn.
