Today’s parents are willing to spend a premium on their children: from the food they put in their mouths to the diapers they put on their bums. Parents are extra-careful when it comes to food and nutrition for their babies, especially when it comes to weaning.
After all, parents don’t want to run the risk of feeding their children additives, GMOs and a bunch of nasty preservatives, right?
Because of this, many parents feel pressured to make their baby’s food from scratch, so they have control over what goes into it. But with the growing pressures of everyday living, unfortunately, not all parents have the luxury of doing this. So, store-bought baby food – whether cereal or fruit/ vegetable purees – becomes a convenient alternative.
Only the Good Stuff: The Premium Baby Cereal Singaporean Mums Choose
When parents opt for baby food not made in their own kitchens, they need the assurance that their little ones are getting only the finest ingredients along with the right nutrients for growing babies.
It’s all about being able to trust someone to prepare food in its purest form – just like you would in your own kitchen.
Mums want to find someone who prioritises high-quality ingredients, along with careful manufacturing methods to ensure maximum mineral and vitamin retention. Someone like yourself, who uses only real fruits, whole grains and no artificial flavours.
Someone who chooses only the good stuff that is essential for baby’s growth and development when making that transition to solids. Mums want only the best for their child, and Gerber wants the same too.
Gerber knows how important the weaning period is, and that nutrition takes centre stage when a baby is first introduced to solids. Gerber understands that cereals are a firm favourite amongst parents because they are easy to prepare, taste delicious, and are fortified with iron as well as other nutrients needed for a baby’s growth and development.
This is why Gerber’s premium cereals are made with real fruits and whole grains, fortified with important nutrients like iron, zinc, calcium and vitamins, and contain no artificial flavours. Parents can be assured that their little ones are getting the essentials needed for optimum growth.
Onwards and Beyond
As a baby continues to grow, introducing new textures and tastes is the next step in the food journey. Gradually introducing different textures helps to set baby up for adult food later on.
Nevertheless, achieving this is not that simple, as some babies struggle with texture. Food still needs to be nutritious, yet easy enough for them to self-feed. Gerber also knows exactly when babies should graduate to more texture in their food.
Gerber’s Premium Cereals for eight- to 11-month-old babies include new flavours and textures to encourage little ones to chew. Gerber also has cereals made specifically for toddlers 12 months and above, with chunkier diced fruits and a spoon-hugging texture, for a smooth transition to self-feeding.
Another “trick” mums could try is to incorporate tastes their little ones love into delicious, “chunkier” food options. For example, Gerber Premium Cereals can easily be incorporated in recipes, like this one:
Baby Mini-Pancakes
4 tbsp Gerber® Premium Cereals
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
4 tbsp Gerber fruit puree (or your preferred mashed or fruit puree)
1/3 cup breastmilk/formula
Instructions:
- Mix the dry ingredients together.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the wet ingredients together.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix together with a spatula until just incorporated. Do not overmix as this would result in a rubbery pancake.
- Drop about 2 tbsp of batter per pancake onto a buttered or oiled non-stick pan and cook over medium heat until both sides are golden brown.

Mums no longer need to feel guilty about not making their own baby food. The new range of Gerber Premium Cereals can assure all mums that they already are giving their little ones the best start possible using the finest ingredients. To find out more head over to GERBER Premium Cereals.
