Chinese celebrity couple Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy have announced their divorce. In recent years, the status of their marriage has been the subject of constant speculation.
On Friday (28 January) at 1pm, the two actors took to their own respective Weibo accounts at the same time to confirm their separation.
Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy Confirm They Have Divorced
Angelababy, whose real name is Angela Yeung, and Huang Xiaoming uploaded identical posts on Weibo while tagging each other. As per The Straits Times, they both wrote, “Grateful for everything in the past, we are still a family in future.”
Around the same time, their respective agencies posted a press statement on Weibo and said that the former couple have decided to split amicably. It was also reported that Huang and Angelababy have already completed the relevant procedures.
Their agencies added how the actors will raise their son together in the future. The couple also stated that they will not comment further on the divorce and will be taking legal actions against malicious rumours.
There Were Already Speculations About the Celebrity Couple’s Split
Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy dated for about five years before going public with their relationship in 2014. A year later, the couple decided to tie the knot.
The two were eventually blessed with a baby. In 2017, the actress gave birth to a baby boy, whom they nicknamed Little Sponge.
In 2019, rumours of marital woes started surfacing because the two were hardly seen together in public. They were also found to have seldom interacted on social media.
In July of that year, Huang tried to refute the rumours when he directly replied to a fan on Weibo about how he still liked his wife.
But speculation about their split didn’t end there. In September, Huang and Angelababy performed separately at broadcaster China Central Television’s Mid-Autumn Festival Gala.
Neither had ever commented if the divorce rumours were true until their recent break-up confirmation.
