Have you been invited to parties this holiday season? Or is your family planning to host one for relatives and friends? If there’s wine or any alcoholic drinks in these parties, make sure that you don’t let your kids drink any.
Health officials in the UK warn parents against giving their kids wine or any alcoholic drink as they are alarmed at the increasing number of children, ages 11 to 15, who are getting drunk every month. According to them, kids who take a sip of any alcoholic drink early on in life are most likely to become heavy drinkers when they’re adults.
A lot of critics say that this advice is useless and unrealistic. They believe that banning children from alcohol will only make them more curious about it which can lead them to become obsessed.
While there’s truth to what the critics are saying, I still agree with what the UK health officials are campaigning about. I wouldn’t let my kids have even just a sip of alcohol as I’m afraid that it would result to a lifetime of problems.
What about you? Do you agree with the UK health officials? Will children who occasionally have a sip develop alcohol-related problems in adulthood?
