In the three and a half decades since its inception, Action for AIDS Singapore (AfA) has been a steadfast force in the battle against HIV/AIDS in Singapore. Founded in 1988, the organisation has played a pivotal role in shaping the narrative around HIV/AIDS, striving to create a future where the virus no longer poses a threat to the community.

Strategic Blueprint for an HIV/AIDS-Free Singapore by 2030

In November 2019, AfA unveiled its visionary “Community Blueprint Towards Ending HIV and AIDS in Singapore by 2030.” This strategic roadmap meticulously identifies prevailing issues and service gaps and outlines the necessary efforts and investments required to terminate HIV transmission and AIDS by the end of the decade.

Despite the setbacks presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, AfA’s programs and services have demonstrated resilience and are steadily regaining momentum. The organisation is now poised for a strategic expansion of outreach initiatives, testing endeavours, and partnerships with various stakeholders, reaffirming its commitment to a robust response in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Prof Roy Chan: Leading the Charge Against Stigma

On AfA’s 35th Anniversary and World AIDS Day 2023, Prof Roy Chan, President of AfA, emphasises the organisation’s dedication to eradicating stigma, improving healthcare access, and supporting individuals living with HIV. Under the theme “Let the Communities Lead,” World AIDS Day 2023 underscores the pivotal role of communities in spearheading progress against HIV.
