As the 15th day of the Lunar New Year approaches, families around the world prepare for gatherings filled with warmth and tradition. In Chinese culture, this day is marked by reunion dinners and the sweet indulgence of tang yuan, delicate glutinous rice balls symbolising unity and togetherness. However, this year, there’s a special twist to the celebration – an event called “A Rain-bowl of Happiness” awaits families at PIP’s PLAYbox.
The Story Behind the Event
At the heart of this playdate lies a charming tale titled “A Rain-bowl of Happiness,” penned and illustrated by the talented team at BrookieKids. Inspired by Emily Yeo’s The Little Book of Singapore Food Illustrated, this locally crafted story follows Olive, Kale, and their mom as they embark on a culinary adventure, creating Rainbow tang yuan using natural ingredients like butterfly peas and pandan leaves.
What to Expect
Imagine stepping into a whimsical world where creativity knows no bounds. At “A Rain-bowl of Happiness,” children and parents alike are invited to immerse themselves in a sensory experience like no other. Led by the experts at Little Forest, this event promises a blend of storytelling magic and hands-on play.
The Playdate Unveiled
Upon entering PIP’s PLAYbox, families will experience a burst of colours and laughter. The 30-minute session kicks off with a captivating storytelling segment, bringing Olive, Kale, and their rainbow-filled journey to life. As the tale unfolds, young participants will be transported to a world where imagination reigns supreme.
Hands-On Fun
But the excitement doesn’t end there. Following the storytelling session, it’s time for some hands-on fun! Guided by the team from Little Forest, children will have the opportunity to get creative with their very own Rainbow tang yuan. Using non-edible play dough and natural colourings, little ones can unleash their artistic flair and craft their edible masterpieces.
