As part of this year’s Household Support Package, about 950,000 HDB households in Singapore will receive $135 million in service and conservancy charges (S&CC) rebates from April to March 2022.
The $900 million Household Support Package was announced in the Singapore Budget 2021 on Friday (26 March) through a statement by the Ministry of Finance.
Household Support Package To Provide Additional Financial Help To Families
To manage the current situation, the Household Support Package aims to provide additional help to families with household expenses. Lower to middle-income families will likely benefit most from the package that includes:
- Vouchers that can be used to defray expenses and support local businesses
- S&CC rebates and goods
- Services tax vouchers
During this fiscal year, eligible Singaporean households will get between 1½ and 3½ months in S&CC rebates. This will depend on their flat types. Residents of such households will be notified through letters by April 1, 2021. They will then automatically receive their quarterly S&CC rebate in April, July, and October 2021, till January 2022.
It was also noted that rebates will be credited directly into each household’s S&CC accounts that are managed by their respective town councils. These households will not need to take any action in order to benefit from the rebate.
To check your household’s S&CC rebate eligibility online, residents can log in to the My HDBPage website using their Singpass. They may also submit queries on rebate eligibility through this portal.
If there are specific queries on the household’s S&CC payment or account status, residents can contact their own respective town councils.
Mr Heng: “We Can Emerge Stronger From COVID-19”
Regarding the support for families during this period of uncertainty, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat posted an informative piece on Facebook. His added details on everything residents need to know about the Household Support Package.
Starting with the number of Singaporeans affected by COVID-19, he says, “At this year’s Budget, I announced how we will continue to provide targeted support for families through the Household Support Package.”
“When I go on my regular walkabouts, residents share with me that the various measures in the Household Support Package will go some way to help them in these difficult times,” he added.
