COVID-19: 675 New Cases Reported on 13 May, Total Now Past 25,000

Singapore reports another 675 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday (13 May) bringing the national total number of infections here past 25,000.

As of noon on Wednesday, the country has reported 25,346 cases.

675 new cases reported

Among the new cases reported today, the vast majority work permit holders residing in dormitories, and four were community cases involving two Singaporeans/Permanent Residents, including a 73-year-old woman who is currently an unlinked case. The other two community cases are Work Pass holders.

“The number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of eight cases per day in the week before, to an average of six per day in the past week,” the Ministry of Health said in a press release.

There were no imported cases and no new cases among work permit holders residing outside dormitories were reported.

Of the new cases, 99% are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.

958 COVID-19 Patients Discharged, New Daily High

A total of 958 more patients were discharged in a new daily high. In all, 4,809 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community care facilities.

There are currently 1,037 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, while 19 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

19,479 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19. 21 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection.

To date, 21 have died from complications due to COVID-19 infection in Singapore, while nine have died from other causes while testing positive.
