When a woman becomes a mother, every aspect of her life takes a backseat. This isn’t surprising, after all she is now responsible for the life of another human being, a human being that needs constant attention and love.
That doesn’t mean, however, that mothers should stop paying attention to their own selves, both physically and mentally. A mother should be able to pamper herself so that she can be a better person, better mother.
Sadly, many people think a mother caring for herself is her being “selfish.” In her Family Share article, mom Hannah Rose begs to differ. In fact she suggests all mother to do these eight “selfish” things.
1. Massage
After all the heavy lifting that moms do, literally and figuratively, they deserve a good massage or two to rejuvenate their tired and aching muscles. The way moms are always tired, a massage a necessity ph.theasianparent.com/more than it is a luxury.
2. Couple’s retreat
Having children can be stressful for both mother and father, and because it’s a responsibility that never ceases, some time away can be beneficial for both. It’s a good time to reconnect with your spouse, enjoy the company of just the two of you, and even have a second honeymoon of sorts.
3. Splurge on one item
“Despite your constant plague of children’s clothing, we all know you have that one item you have been quietly obsessing over for a while now,” Hannah says. “Remember sometimes it is OK to splurge.”
4. Make a new friend
Emotional connection with another human being is an important aspect of our lives. It keeps our perspectives fresh and widens our proverbial horizons. With the routine of daily life, moms especially will benefit from the company of a new friend.
5. Take up a new hobby
It can be an entirely new hobby like learning a new language or playing an instrument, or something you once enjoyed doing. Maybe you used to paint before becoming a mother, or maybe you used to write. It’s a good idea to start doing them again. All moms need their minds to be sharp and nurtured.
6. Have your picture taken
“Don’t be afraid to have your husband take a picture of how good looking you are,” Hannah advises. “You have a million pictures of your darling kids, but it’s fun to have a lovely picture of yourself as well.”
