Yanyah Milutinović is a 34-year-old fitness addict mum; she also has her love for bodybuilding. While thriving as a fitness influencer, she comfortably lives in New York with her family.
More than a year ago, she gave birth to her youngest child, Vuk. Throughout that pregnancy, she decided to regularly exercise in hopes of keeping her body fit and healthy.
After that, she was able to push her 9-pound baby in one push after going through seven hours of labour.
“I pushed my 9 lbs son out in one single push – and in less than 30 seconds,” recounted Yanyah Milutinović.
After her mind-blowing feat, the fitness mum takes pride in what she went through. For her, the whole birth experience was “absolutely remarkable.”
Rebuilding Strength After Giving Birth
Despite her active lifestyle, it was not easy for the fitness-addict mum to return to her regular exercise routine. After the delivery, she struggled to move without help.
However, she never lost the motivation to return to her usual exercise regimen. She also aimed to push her body to greater limits. To achieve this, the active mum started with breathing exercises and pelvic floor workouts to prepare for the gym.
After about two weeks, the fitness addict mum resumed her usual routine. She also added more exercises that focus on building her strength.
According to Yanyah Milutinović, “My focus was on my healing and on my physical performance and not so much on the aesthetics in postpartum.”
In just under four months, Ms Milutinović managed to safely regain her strength after labour. Thanks to her strict regimen, she surpassed her usual weightlifting limit.
She was already squatting more than 100 kg five weeks after her birth delivery to her youngest child. Six months after giving birth, this active mum squats with nearly 200 kg.
Mum Beats Her Pre-pregnancy Record
Yanyah Milutinović lives with her fitness-buff husband, Risel Martinez. The couple has two children; The eldest is their daughter Smiljana. Her family continues to support her in her fitness journey.
At present, Yanyah is able to beat her pre-pregnancy record.
She says, “From not being able to pick anything off the floor, I am now deadlifting 315 lbs (142 kg) for ten repetitions with ease.”
She then further explained more about her fitness goal while she was on her journey. At 5 weeks postpartum, Ms Milutinović reached her goal of squatting with 225 lbs. Afterwards, she also completed her second goal of lifting 315 lbs.
While taking note of her lifting goals, Yanyah Milutinović eventually succeeded in squatting with 405 lbs for one rep. She also managed to deadlift and chest press within 1 hour with 920 lbs. Moreover, she achieved all this at 5 months postpartum.
Her Fitness Advice to New Mums
As a proud mum of two, Yanyah Milutinović went through two pregnancy cycles. While working as an influencer, she documented the fitness journeys she accomplished while pregnant.
Concerning this, Ms Milutinović wanted to share some essential fitness advice that will be helpful to new mums. She came up with these suggestions after receiving flak from fellow parents for weightlifting while pregnant. According to her, working on your pelvic floor throughout pregnancy helps with incontinence.
She insists, “I have never leaked, not even a little bit, ever,” she said.
Meanwhile, Yanyah Milutinović also responded to concerns about her rigorous pregnancy exercises. Before pregnancy, she maintains her pelvic floor strength and health. She also listens to her body before pushing for her lifting goals.
“I have been able to heal myself from two pregnancies without any complications,” stated Yanyah Milutinović.
In addition, Yanyah Milutinović also highlights the importance of diet. According to her, mums should not restrict themselves from any foods. Instead, they must focus on eating protein-rich meals to fuel the body for heavy lifting.
“There is no ‘right vs wrong’ time to eat,” she said.
Furthermore, she discourages fellow mums from aiming to lose weight while pregnant.
“The more you obsess about something and restrict yourself, the more likely it will all fail and not be sustainable for the long run,” said Yanyah Milutinović.
Mums should never push or rush themselves to lose weight right after pregnancy.
She then added: “We need to be able to enjoy birthdays, holidays and business dinners too.”
