287 New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Singapore, Total at 1,910

Singapore reported 287 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday (9 April), the multi-ministry task force dealing with the coronavirus told the media in a press conference.

This is almost double yesterday’s highest record of 142 cases. The total number of cases in Singapore is now at 1,910, and this adds to the global number of cases that just crossed the 1.5 million mark.

According to the task force, 19 cases are linked to previous cases, with 46 unlinked cases.

Three of the latest cases announced are imported.

Updates on previous cases

314 cases have been discharged from acute care, and 705 cases have been moved to a community isolation facility, the task force said. 

29 patients are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

To date, Singapore has recorded six fatalities related to COVID-19. 

On Wednesday (8 April), a 32-year-old male Indian national passed away while awaiting test results. He was later confirmed to have positive of COVID-19 after his demise. His chest X-ray indicated he did not have pneumonia.

The Ministry of Health on Thursday (9 April) said the cause of death for Case 1604 is ischaemic heart disease, and is not due to complications from COVID-19 infection.
