Swine Flu Confirmed in South Korea

Just hours after Hong Kong reported it's first swine flu case, South Korea has now confirmed a case. This brings the total number of countries affected to 15.

Swine Flu Confimed in Korea

As of today, Saturday, May 2nd, health authorities in South Korea have confirmed the nation’s first case of swine flu. The patient, a 51-year-old Korean woman contracted it from a recent trip to Mexico.

Health authorities are testing another woman, who stayed with the patient and drove her home from the airport for swine flu.

It is Asia’s second confirmed case of the disease. Hong Kong officials ordered a weeklong quarantine for hundreds of hotel guests staying at the Metropark hotel and workers after a 25-year-old Mexican man who arrived via Shanghai tested positive for the virus.

Besides Hong Kong and South Korea, Swine Flu cases has been confirmed in 13 other countries, namely Mexico, the U.S, six European nations, Canada, New Zealand and Israel.
