Why do I have hair growing on my stomach when I’m pregnant?
Pregnancy changes a mother’s life in many ways. Not only is she no longer alone but there are many things to deal with, one thing that has changed since becoming a pregnant mother is her physical condition. One of those things is “hair.” Why do pregnant women have so much hair? Hair grows on the stomach while pregnant, hair grows up to the navel. What does all that hair mean? Why does hair grow? What is the black line in the middle of the stomach? Let’s take a look.

Hair on the belly of pregnant mothers
The hair that grows on the mother’s stomach, including the navel, is caused by “hormonal” changes. In addition to the stomach, hair or mustache can also grow in other areas, such as the face, chest, and other unwanted areas.
The problem of excessive hair growth can make many pregnant mothers uncomfortable and want to remove the hair. The method that most mothers think of is laser hair removal. But in fact, it is recommended that mothers do not get laser hair removal yet. If you want to get laser hair removal, it would be best to do it after giving birth.
If you want to remove unwanted hair during pregnancy, waxing is the safest method for pregnant mothers.

Black line in the middle of the belly
In addition to hair, pregnant mothers often have a black line in the middle of their abdomen, which many people often wonder what causes it and whether it will disappear after giving birth.
The dark line down the middle of the abdomen, or Linea Nigra, usually appears during the first trimester of pregnancy and may gradually darken until delivery. It is caused by the hormones estrogen and progesterone, which stimulate the skin to darken.
This dark line in the middle of the abdomen is not harmful to the mother and the baby in the womb. Therefore, do not worry because it is just a skin condition. This line will gradually disappear after giving birth or after hormones return to normal.

Beliefs about predicting the gender of your baby
This may not be 100% accurate because it is just a belief. However, it has been passed down from generation to generation that we can determine the gender of the baby in the womb from the body hair of the pregnant mother and from the black lines on the mother’s stomach.
- Black line in the middle of the belly: Note the length of the black line. If the black line in the middle of the pregnant mother’s belly extends from below to above the navel, it is predicted that she will have a “son”. But if the black line in the middle of the pregnant mother’s belly stops just below the navel, it is predicted that she will have a “daughter”.
- Body hair of pregnant mothers: Look at the length, thickness and speed of the hair growth. Many mothers have probably heard that if there is a lot of hair, it is likely that you will have a son. It is true. According to the belief, it is predicted that if the hair grows a lot, grows fast and is thick, it is likely that you will have a “son”. However, if there are not many changes in the body regarding the hair growth, it means that you will have a “daughter”.

Other changes during pregnancy
- Acne: A bothersome problem for mothers is acne breakouts, acne all over the face. Plus, if you are going to use any medicine, you have to be extra careful. Mostly, pregnant mothers tend to have acne breakouts in the first trimester due to hormonal changes. Mothers can use acne spot treatment as usual, but avoid Retin-A.
- Body odor occurs: Some pregnant women may experience a stronger body odor, even though they normally do not have such a strong body odor. This can be caused by many factors, such as food, salty food or seafood, as well as hormones.
- Gaining weight: It is very common for pregnant women to gain weight due to changes in their physical condition, the addition of another little one, and the need to eat more food. If any mothers are worried about gaining weight, try to check if they are eating foods that are high in sugar. Avoiding snacks and soft drinks may help control the pregnant mother’s weight.
